Corporate Partnerships and The Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland

The Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland has established critically important relationships with a variety of corporate partners.  Our partners help us to enhance our programs and services and improve their visibility, tap into unique areas of expertise, and add volunteer manpower.  For our partners, working with the Foundation improves employee morale, enhances community relationships, demonstrates social responsibility and provides a clear public benefit.

Our corporate partners have been instrumental in helping us to provide over 20,000 hours of social and emotional support, 9,000 hours of exercise, 6,000 hours of wellness programming, and 4,000 hours of speech class this year.  Other supported programs include Medication and Respite Assistance, a lending library, Ask-Our-Nurse program, and Information and Referral Services.

As the Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland, through the Parkinson Care Series, develops a sustainable revenue stream, our corporate partnerships will continue to allow us to expand mission-driven services that serve the Parkinson community and support our local economy, and to contribute to critical medical research.

We seek to build employee-driven relationships that encompass volunteerism and community service in addition to financial contributions. In 2007, our corporate partners will work with us on loaned executive programs, volunteer projects like our “Day of Caring,” service on our Community Advisory Board, and direct service projects through our Wellness Center.

We are privileged to have relationships with some of the finest public and private corporations in Kansas City.

Kansas City Power and Light

Kansas City Power & Light Company (KCP&L), a wholly owned subsidiary of Great Plains Energy Incorporated, is a leading regulated provider of energy-related products and services for homes, businesses, industries, and municipalities in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The company was founded in 1882 and has become one of the Midwest's most affordable energy suppliers because of our leadership in fuel procurement, plant technology and efficient power production and distribution.

KCP&L services nearly 500,000 customers in 24 Missouri and northwestern Kansas counties - a territory of about 4,600 square miles. Delivering that power requires 1,700 miles of transmission lines, more than 10,000 miles of overhead distribution lines, and approximately 3,400 miles of underground distribution lines.  KCPS joined PFH as a corporate partner in 2006.  Their extraordinary commitment was unprecedented, and their dedicated and enthusiastic employee-volunteers were wonderful!
